Sydney has been named the top Australian destination for the tenth year in a row.

According to, Sydney topped the list which was based on more than 260,000 bookings made per month by customers in 2012.

Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Byron Bay and Sydney were the five New South Wales destinations that made the top 20 list and accounted for one quarter of all hotel rooms booked, out of the top 20 listed destinations.

Top 10 New South Wales Destinations in 2012: Sydney, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Byron Bay, Albury, Wollongong, Hunter Valley, Wagga Wagga and Dubbo.
